Notice periods

Check whether your employment contract specifies a notice period.

If a notice period is not stated in your contract, the Employment Act will apply and the notice period will depend on your length of service.

Payment in lieu of notice

Your employment can be ended without notice if ‘payment in lieu of notice’ is included in your contract. Your employer will pay you instead of giving you a notice period.
